Sad day, short post

Ingmar Bergman died today. My first exposure to Bergman was The Seventh Seal, which I’m sure is typical of film students everywhere. I’ve since seen quite a few film, and purchased some of those. He was one of the few people I would have been completely star struck if I had the ability to meet them. Now he had died. I am sad.

Though I’m in the middle (ahem) of reading Gravity’s Rainbow, I’m tempted to stop and read Bergman’s autobiography: The Magic Lantern. I feel like I should immerse myself in Bergman now that he is gone. I’ll watch some Bergman films next, so I can write a longer, more involved post, instead of this tiny one.

  1. Yeah, I read this online this morning and it is sad news indeed. If you haven’t already seen it, I highly recommend “Hour of the Wolf”, as close to a horror film as Bergman ever got.

  2. Sad news, great director!
